HIFU Treatment
High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) is a non-invasive procedure increasingly used for skin tightening and facial rejuvenation. The procedure is sometimes called the “Lunchtime Face Lift” because it is rapid, effective, and requires no recovery time. With its ability to deliver impressive results without surgery or downtime, HIFU has become a sought-after treatment for those seeking a non-surgical facelift and a more youthful appearance.

Benefits of HIFU
HIFU is considered a safe, effective, and noninvasive procedure for tightening the facial skin.

Non-Invasive
The treatment does not require any incisions or injections. It provides a non-surgical alternative to traditional facelift procedures, making it a desirable option for individuals looking to rejuvenate their appearance without going under the knife.

No Downtime
Unlike surgical procedures that require significant recovery time, HIFU has no downtime and patients can swiftly return to their daily routines post treatment, ensuring convenience and ease.

Long Lasting Results
The collagen stimulation triggered by HIFU continues to improve the skin’s appearance over time, with results that can last over a year or more.

Natural Looking Results
As the treatment works by stimulating the patient’s collagen production to reverse signs of aging, the results are natural looking and gradual.

Pocket Friendly
Compared to surgical face lift, HIFU offers a more cost-effective means to address various aging concerns including sagging skin and wrinkles.
How does HIFU work?
HIFU uses high frequency ultrasound to heat the deeper layers of the skin resulting in collagen production, resulting in skin tightening and lifting effects. It lifts and tightens the skin and smooths out wrinkles, fine lines, and enlarged pores.
What happens during the procedure?
The treatment usually begins by cleaning and marking the treatment area to ensure precise targeting of the ultrasound energy. Then a conductive gel is applied. A handheld device emits bursts of ultrasound that penetrate deep into the skin and boosts collagen. Each session typically lasts 30–90 minutes. The treatment is painless and has no downtime.

What are the indications treated by HIFU?
HIFU is effective for the following indications:
- smoothing out wrinkles and fine lines
- lifting drooping jowls, eyelids, and eyebrows
- enhancing facial contours i.e., sculpt cheeks and jawline
- tightening sagging skin on neck
- fat reduction and body contouring i.e., in thighs, abdomen, arms, buttocks.

Who is a suitable patient for HIFU?
Not everyone is a suitable candidate for HIFU treatment. Typically, individuals over the age of 30 with mild-to-moderate skin laxity tend to experience the best outcomes. Those with significant loose skin may require multiple sessions to achieve desired results. However, older individuals with severe skin laxity, or pronounced sagging in the neck area may not be ideal candidates for HIFU and may benefit more from surgical interventions.

When will the results be visible?
The best time for patients to notice the lifting, tightening, and firming of their skin is two to three months after treatment. Gradual improvements can be seen once the skin has had time to repair and produce new collagen and elastin, which supports the skin’s structure. Some patients may experience an initial improvement right away. Patients may even observe changes for up to six months after the treatment as the process of building and replacing old skin cells occurs.

Aftercare instructions for HIFU:
To ensure optimal results, avoid using harsh skincare products on the treated area for at least a week after the procedure. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher to protect the treated area from UV rays and refrain from using steam rooms, saunas or hot tubs. Refrain from engaging in vigorous exercise or activities that may cause excessive sweating for a couple of days after the procedure as sweating can irritate the treated area.

What are the possible side effects of HIFU?
There may be a small amount of redness or swelling, but it should disappear within 24-48 hours. The treated region may continue to feel slightly tingly for a few weeks. Rarely, bruising or temporary numbness may occur.
